Christmas 2009

What a trip this has been! Wednesday evening we drove to Tulsa to stay the night. On our way we took a wrong turn and had to go 10 miles out of our way...on toll roads. Once we got to the hotel we had a great night sleep. Our flight was at 7:55 a.m. on Christmas Eve so we figured we should get to the airport early incase it was busy. Surprislingly it was not very busy when we were there. I think this was the best airport experience Billy has ever had. Everyone was super helpful, he was not searched and he walked thru security ONCE! That was a pretty big deal. He usually has to go through a couple times. Our flight was super bumpy but not too bad I guess. Jenna was very good the whole way too. She actually giggled when we landed and the pilot hit the brakes. She got very excited and started giggling. Very cute! And out flight was 45 minutes early! Jenna and Daddy sharing a bean burrito at the hotel. She loved it!

Carlee picked us up and we went back to her place. Billy and I left Jenna with her and went to the store. We were gone about 30 minutes and came home to Jenna shivering. They tried wrapping her in a blanket but she wasn't cold. Billy and I took turns holding her trying to calm her down thinking she was maybe having an anxiety atack. We took her temp and it was 102.8. Jenna has never had a fever before so with it being that high I freaked out. We decided to take her to the nearest ER. What was nice is that they had a seperate ER just for pediatrics. Before we walked in Billy gave Jenna a blessing. They took her temperature and it was 102.6 so they gave her tylenol. Within just a few minutes a doctor was in to see us. By this time Billy's brother and his girlfriend were there with us. She knew the doctor and reassured me that he was good. After some questions and looking at her he decided it was probaby a UTI so he wanted her to have a cathader. I had to leave the room, it was so sad. I know what it feels like to have one done without any meds and knew it was going to be terrible. Billy and two nurses held her down and she immediately shot out of there arms by at least a good 12 inches. The nurses said she was a very strong little girl! The test cam back positive for a UTI and after being in the ER for an hour and a half her temperature came right back down to 98.6. We kept Jenna on Tylenol and Motrin for 24 hours to keep the fever under control. She is also on antibiotics to help with the infection. Two days later she is doing so much better!

After our ER trip we took family pictures with all the siblings and grandkids. It was a lot of fun and were able to get some really good and fun pictures. After pictures we all went out to eat mexican (the first of many mexican dinners). A little later that evening the toilet in the main bathroom flooded over and started running down the hallway. It was a bit funny at first to watch the guys take care of the whole thing while us girls sat back and watched. :) Good thing the guys knew what to do and were able to fix the toilet.

Billy and his brother Jason trying to take a picture.On Christmas Day we made several stops. First we went to Jaime's house for breakfast with Mom. It was very nice to have everyone there. Christmas breakfast is a tradition for the Cole's. It was also very nice of Jaime to open up her home to us. Thanks! We had all kinds of yummy food...eggs, bacon, monkey bread, biscuits, pancakes, waffles, hashbrowns, etc. I think we were all pretty stuffed after that. When we were all done with breakfast we went to visit Janet's sister and her family. After a few minutes there we went to pick up Jason's boys for the rest of Christmas day. Then we went back to the girls' house and opened presents. All the grandkids got lots of stuff! Jenna wasn't interested in opening anything by this point, she just wanted to play with everthing. It was a lot of fun to be with Billy's family this year for Christmas.

We didn't do much else while we were in Phoenix except be with family. Lots of games were played including a Corn Hole tournament that was won by Scott!!! Although a few days later Scott lost Corn Hole to an 8-year-old. :) Lots of Bocce Ball was played as well. Everyone seemed to have a great time with eachother. Lucas and Erica and their kids also came up to visit for an evening. It was a nice break for them to be out. They have very cute girls with very fun personalities. It was nice to meet them.

We had no problems getting home with the weather. I am always a little nervous to fly this time of the year but everything was great. When we flew out to Arizona we missed a blizzard by just a couple of hours. At home they woke up Christmas morning to a white Christmas. I was a little sad to miss it. It has been a long time since we have had one. It has been a long time since we've had a good snow.
